BAU-T-001 – Business Analysis using UML

2 Day Course

The Common Vision “Business Analysis using UML” training is intended for any personnel involved in the definition of requirements.

Pre-requisites:
There are no pre-requisites for this training course.

What will we learn?:
By the end of the course, participants should be able to understand and use all aspects of UML relevant to requirements capture and be able to effectively plan and execute a Use Case workshop.

Topics include:
Use Case Analysis, Business Object Modeling, State Transition Modeling, Business Process Modeling, Managing the Process of Requirements Capture, How to run a Use Case Workshop.

BAU-T-002 – UML for Business Analysts – Extended workshop Option

3 Day Course

The Common Vision “UML for Business Analysts” training is intended for Business Analysts who will be responsible for delivering Use Case workshops and require additional opportunities to practice these techniques in small groups within the training session.

Pre-requisites:
There are no pre-requisites for this training course.

What will we learn?:
By the end of the course, participants should be able to understand and use all aspects of UML relevant to requirements capture and be able to effectively plan and execute a Use Case workshop.

Topics include:
all content of BAU-T-001 plus the trainer spends an additional day during the course work-shopping the subject with the training participants.

BAU-T-003 – Business Analyst Kick-start – Pre-workshop customisation

Duration Is Variable

Some clients recognise that the benefits of training can be compounded by tailoring the course specifically for the intended audience. Common Vision supports this by offering a “Business Analysis Kick-Start – Pre-workshop customisation” program to work with nominated individuals before the course to select appropriate case studies and/or incorporate material from the customer’s project into the course itself.

This customisation is delivered as an optional extension to BAU-T-001 or BAU-T-002.

UML-W-001 – Introduction to UML Workshop

1 Day Course

The Introduction to UML Workshop is intended to provide participants with a working knowledge of all of the key concepts and diagrams of the UML and how they are used. The course is based upon the newly released UML 2.0 and a brief overview of the changes from UML 1.5 can be provided.

A set of short exercises provide the participants with the opportunity to use these techniques over the course of the day.

There are no pre-requisites for this training course.

What will we learn?:
By the end of the course, participants should have an understanding of how the key UML artefacts can be used in a component-based project and how they relate to each other. Rather than just provide an overview of the UML 2.0, the course aims to provide the participants with an understanding of how different Structure and Behaviour Diagrams provided in the UML are useful for representing specific types of information.

Topics include:
Structure Diagrams and Techniques (Classes, Components, Objects, Composite Structures, Package and Deployment diagrams) and Behaviour (Use Cases, Activity, State Machine and the different types of Interaction Diagrams).

PRM-T-001 – Project Management Training

2 Day Course

The Common Vision Project Management training course is intended to provide participants with all of the necessary techniques to establish and manage an IT project, including both generic Project Management techniques, common issues arising on IT projects and some practical techniques for dealing with them.

Pre-requisites:
Minimum 2-years experience in IT projects (in any role).

What will we learn?:
By the end of the course, participants should have an understanding of how to establish and effectively manage an IT project and how to deal with common project issues.

Topics include:
What is a project?, Managing the Business Case, Startup, Estimation, Scheduling, Planning, Governance and Control, Reporting, Project Assurance, Management Techniques for Component-Based Applications (Incremental, Iterative & Agile approaches), Risk and Issue Management, Some common project issues and how to deal with them, Project Closure and Follow-up.
